The Acadia Sailing Company LLC is delighted to provide its guests the opportunity to experience the rich history, beauty, allure, and grandeur of Mount Desert Island in a relaxed setting aboard the Silence Dogood (pronounced Do-Good). With a maximum of six passengers, the atmosphere fosters intimate conversation, interesting story telling, and invigorating sight seeing.

When you walk aboard the Silence Dogood, you can sit back, unwind, and prepare to take in the sights, sounds, and stories of one of the most stunning areas of the entire coast of Maine. History truly permeates this section of Maine, from its discovery by Champlain through maritime action in the French and Indian Wars and the “rusticators” era. Captain Jesse will share many stories of the sea and history of the local communities with passengers aboard our ship.

For those interested in taking part in the rewards of sailing, passengers are invited to take a turn at the wheel, help haul up our antique oak lobster traps, and study local nautical charts.
